Unit converters

Hormone unit converter — pmol/L, ng/mL, mIU/L

Search for a hormone and type the result in any unit. For protein hormones, conversion to international units depends on the standard and assay — see the note under the name.

Thyroid

Calcitonin

Adrenal

Cortisol1 µg/dL = 27.6 nmol/L
Cortisol, 24-hour urine
ACTH
Aldosterone1 ng/dL = 27.7 pmol/L
Aldosterone, 24-hour urine
Renin (direct concentration)1 pg/mL ≈ 1.67 mIU/L; depends on the assay

Vasopressin (ADH)

Metabolism and heart

Insulin1 µIU/mL = 6 pmol/L (some labs use 6.945)
Parathyroid hormone (PTH)
BNP
NT-proBNP

How we convert

Mass units (mg/dL) are converted to molar units (mmol/L, µmol/L) using the molar mass of the compound: mmol/L = mg/dL × 10 ÷ molar mass. For protein hormones (GH, prolactin, insulin, renin) conversion to international units relies on WHO standards and may differ between laboratories. Results are rounded to about 4 significant digits.

Always use the reference range printed on your laboratory report — it depends on the assay.
