How we convert
Mass units (mg/dL) are converted to molar units (mmol/L, µmol/L) using the molar mass of the compound: mmol/L = mg/dL × 10 ÷ molar mass. Cell counts are converted by powers of ten: 1 ×10³/µL = 109/L (G/L), 1 ×10⁶/µL = 1012/L (T/L); haemoglobin in mmol/L uses the monomer mass (16,114 g/mol). Results are rounded to about 4 significant digits.
Always use the reference range printed on your laboratory report — it depends on the assay.
