KROK 1 2009 – Question 31 · KROK (Medicine) · Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology
Study of bacteriological sputum specimens stained by the Ziehl-Neelsen method revealed some bright-red acid-resistant bacilli that were found in groups or singularly. When inoculated onto the nutrient media, the signs of their growth show up on the 10-15 day. These bacteria relate to the following family:
- A. Yersinia pseudotuberculosis
- B. Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis
- C. Histoplasma duboisii
- D. Mycobacterium tuberculosis
- E. Coxiella burnetii
Hint
Combine the staining behaviour with the very slow growth on culture media to decide which genus of bacteria is being described.
